Earth, Wick & Fire is a small, family based business located in Excelsior, Minnesota. Our hand crafted stone oil candles are made out of natural slate that varies in beautiful mineral colors and textures. During the creation of each candle the characteristics and design are controlled by the composition of the slate and the artist. With the use of a small rock hammer and the controlled pressure of the strike to the slate, the design simply starts with that first strike to see how it will fracture. The break inspires us to continue to move around the piece, in a fashion of interest and inspiration, allowing the slate to come alive. There are never two candles exactly alike.
Earth, Wick & Fire has created a maintenance free, low profile candle that you will enjoy for years, just add oil. Our fiberglass wicks do not burn away and each copper wick holder is hand crafted. The reservoir holds 1 oz. of lamp oil and will burn for approximately 4 to 5 hours before putting itself out.

I use Sterling Silver, Copper, Antique Brass & Colored wire from 16 gauge to 28 gauge with Furnace Glass, Swarovski Crystal, Stones, Czech Glass,Lampwork or polymer clay. To achieve a design a number of assorted pliers, mandrels, files, jigs(to coil wire)cutters & hammers are used. In my
colored Crayon Collection I use 1 1/2" balled head pin,add pewter daisy spacer,
cut & add coiled wire, add another daisy spacer & place on sterling silver chain & loop wire and wind around top twice, cut & tuck wire. When making mirror image wires for Earrings I hold 2 wires together and form design so wire is exactly the same on each earring.When Texturing wire I make short chopping motions using different hammers & when feathering wire I make long strokes. I paint some of my Antique Charms and wipe off so most of the color is darker in the crevices in my Antique Brass collection.I love copper wire as it is so workable,can be left the copper color or can patina for a different effect.

I offer a selection of handwoven, handspun, handknit, & handsewn items. Shawls, scarves, ponchos, vests, bags, purses, table runners, hand dyed women's shirts & shawls, cell phone bags made from upcycled women's blue jeans. I sometimes offer pillows from my handwoven and hand dyed fabric. All products are of my own design and seldom are there two alike. I pride myself on making one-of-a-kind fiber art pieces in my own eclectic style. My handwoven items often have some or all of the yarn dyed and spun by my hand. I often dye all my own fiber and/or cloth for a project. I especially like working with Indigo dye.

The materials used are all sustainable. All of our materials are reclaimed or salvaged in one form or another. We utilize old reclaimed wood, framing timbers in our wood pieces. Create and design cast iron items. This is done the old school way with handmade Cope & Drag pattern boxes for foundry sand casting of iron.

As a queer artist, my work focuses a lot on identity and reclaiming space as a queer individual. Mostly working in forms of printmaking, specifically stone lithography and copper etching, I utilize the power of the multiple to create unique, empowering imagery.
My lithographs are hand drawn on a Bavarian lithographic limestone using a grease-based pencil. That stone is then processed with nitric acid and gum arabic and then proofed and an edition is pulled through a Litho press. My copper etchings are also hand drawn and I often incorporate aquatint and spitbite processes as well. The plate is then soaked in ferric chloride acid, etching the drawing into the plate and then the plate is printed on an etching press.

Romanian-american writer, journalist, novelist, poet and artist-painter and author of several books. I am in love with the canvas and creating with beautiful colors. It is so easy for me to 'write a poem’, but instead with a brush, colors. It makes me feel good about being able to share the gift of art with others. My imagination is exploring every single corner of the Universe and behind. I transfer in my painting everything I have discovered about Love, Humans, Life, Nature, Animals etc. Inspiration is abundant, from love the flowers, delight at a beautiful sunset, or the ocean, a bird chirping and the sky. I like the abstract art, painting subjects that can be easy to translate into realism if you have an eye for this style. I enjoy being able to paint from images dreamt at night, from what I see with my mind, it makes me want more and to share with everyone the joy I have when a painting is finished. Painting captivates to the point that I don't even notice the passing of time.

I strive to source my materials from companies and manufacturers based in the US. I love to work with waxed canvas because it is so versatile. I also love how it develops a patina with use - the more wear and tear placed on it, the better it looks. It gets better with age!

I am a full time studio artist. I create small sculpture and jewelry in nonferrous metals complimented by various materials including: gems and minerals, wood, enamel and paint. I utilize various techniques available to me including: fabrication, lost wax casting, etching, electroforming, anodizing and painting, I approach each piece as art first irregardless of function. No two are alike and no duplications are ever present in my inventory. 

Last year I received honors at Edina and Powderhorn. I have been fortunate to both participate and jury many shows over the years.  

I have previously opened two art galleries and have both a BFA in Painting and MFA in Metalsmithing. I attended the University of Illinois, Art Institute of Chicago and both attended and taught at Northern Illinois University.

I am a gourd artist and my journey with this medium started about 11 years ago after collecting many gourds that I had grown and dried, in my garage. It took me a couple years to develop the courage to create with them. I am essentially a self-taught gourd artist.
I have always been drawn to the natural world for inspiration. I find the sense of ‘flow’ in the shapes and forms of the gourds themselves, as each gourd seems to communicate to me as to what it will become. The theme of water and flow naturally show themselves in my work, as do leaves, trees, animals and flowers. I use a variety of techniques when making my gourd creations to include wood burning, carving, staining and embellishing them with natural objects and fibers.

I use a lathe to hand-turn bowls, vases, tops, bottle openers, bottle stoppers, baseball bats, and Christmas ornaments. My basic design is to simply bring out the beauty of the wood as best I can. Shapely curves without much complexity seems to be the best bet. Occasionally, there are holes and cracks that look better filled, and I normally use a turquoise or brass inlay, which adds a nice touch without overpowering the beauty of the wood.

All the wood we use is from already downed trees. I get a 
lot of wood from the leftovers of logging activity, and have a logger friend who brings me 'interesting' pieces such as burls and crotches. A brush dump down the road that lets me dig through their pile of stumps. Friends and neighbors also keep us well supplied with storm-damaged trees. 

For a finish, I use shellac on everything since it's so natural (made from insects and alcohol), easy to use, and is even edible. I waterproof the inside of vases with a double layer of epoxy.

Minnesota born and raised, with a life-long study of the local landscape including close study of the local flowers, trees, and parks. Residing in Minneapolis.

Self-taught oil painter. Professional Interior Designer, student of Tai Chi, meditation, and energy work.

In my paintings I am idealizing the universal flower or leaf, seeing the leaf or flower an object of contemplation and meditation. 

I spend lots of time in nature. My work starts with drawing on my canvas, and then adding layers of oil paint to produce my images. 

My paintings are oil on canvas, generally using 3 layers of paint to create depth, dimension, and texture. My technique has evolved into a color-blocking style with very crisp edges. The larger paintings can take several weeks to complete.

My creative journey with alcohol inks began with my mother. Always the artist, my mother spent the recent years refining her painting skills, and delving into the world of alcohol inks. She created beautiful things, and was beginning to experience success in local art fairs and a local gallery space. 

The inks and other materials sitting unused felt wrong and sad. Art should be made, shared, and loved with these, I thought. So, I took some materials to my home, and gave it a whirl. I loved how the inks appeared alive, and moved on the ceramic tiles. The vibrant colors made me smile, and watching them spread of their own will was mesmerizing.

I have since learned to manipulate the inks using an airbrush and isopropyl alcohol to encourage movement in specific ways. I enjoy designing stencils to create works with negative space and create balance between solid white or black and the vibrancy and depths of colors. I use a variety of substrates to showcase the inks in novel ways.
